Johnson Performance Modified Quick 8 Coming in 2024

Bunker Hill, IN (January 29, 2024) The modified class will be a little more exciting this summer at the historic Bunker Hill Dragstrip with the addition of the Johnson Performance Quick Eight added to the schedule at select Summit Super Series bracket races. The winner of the quick eight will go home with $250. The runner up will earn $100 and $50 will be paid to each semi finalist. There will also be a fastest qualifier bonus of $50.
For the Johnson family, sponsoring a quick 8 is something that started over ten years ago, with Angie Johnson’s family, when her dad, Jan Cohee, who at the time had Cohee Performance, (which is now Johnson Performance), picked up sponsorship of the popular Modified Quick 8. As is for so many long time Bunker Hill racers, tradition is held close to the heart, and the Johnson Family decided it was time to bring one of the loved traditions back to Bunker Hill Dragstrip.
“We appreciate the Johnson family for bringing back the modified Quick 8,” explains track owner Terry McMillen. “We are excited to have something fun and exciting for Bunker Hill’s largest class. And for those racers who think their car might not be fast enough, I have no doubt Johnson Performance can help with that.”

The schedule for the Johnson Performance Quick 8 will be announced at a later date, but will take place at one bracket race per month in May, June, July, and August. Any rainout will be rescheduled.

The rules for the Quick Eight are as follows:
Must be a door car (swinging door)
Must be entered in the Modified Class
No double entries
Fastest 8 Cars from the Modified time trials will qualify
Quick 8 will be run at the end of the Modified Class
Winner of the Quick 8 falls back into round 4 of Modified
First round losers have the option to buy back into regular Modified class
Quick 8 will be put on a ladder
Quick 8 run as bracket race
Dial in can be quicker than qualifying but can NOT be more than 2 tenths slower than qualifying
Points racers competing in the Quick 8 will earn points as they normally would
