Bunker Hill Dragstrip
New Opportunities for Brandt's Heating Cooling and Electrical Jr. Dragster Points Racers in 2025
Bunker Hill, Ind-Brandt’s Heating Cooling and Electrical will be returning as class sponsor of the Jr. Dragster class at Bunker Hill Dragstrip in 2025. The Brandt’s sponsorship is a huge benefit to Jr. Drag racers who compete at the historic facility. It enables the track to guarantee a total of $600 in payout money at each of the IHRA Summit Super Series event by covering the purse difference if the entry fees don’t cover that $600 in payout. The sponsorship also allows the track to keep the Jr. Dragster entry and buy back fees lower than what is seen at most tracks. “We are very thankful to Shane Murphy and the team at Brandt’s Heating Cooling and Electrical for supporting the youth in our sport.” exclaims track owner Terry McMillen. “We have seen an increase in younger racers at our track, and I expect the class to continue to grow. These kids are our future, and it is important to have them in the sport.”
Being able to continue to offer one of the highest Jr. Dragster guaranteed payouts in 2025 is sure to continue to draw Jr. Dragster racers to Bunker Hill Dragstrip. In addition, the steps the IHRA have taken to offer additional opportunities to the youngest racers in the sport, will also be a huge draw. In 2025 the IHRA will be separating the Jr. Dragster racers into 3 classes, Beginner, Advance, and Master at both the IHRA Team Finals and the IHRA World Finals, offering $2500 to the winner in each class at IHRA Team Finals and $12,500 to the winner in each class at IHRA World Finals.
While Bunker Hill Dragstrip’s Jr. Dragster participation has seen an increase in participation, there are not enough racers in each class to separate the class on a weekly basis. There will only be one Brandt’s Heating Cooling and Electrical Track Champion, but that will not inhibit the track from sending a Jr. Dragster racer from each class to the IHRA Team and World Finals. For example, if the track champion races in the 7.90 class, the 8.90 and 11.90 racers who finished the highest in points will also be invited to represent Bunker Hill Dragstrip at IHRA Team and World Finals in their respective classes.
“This is so exciting” says Terry McMillen’s wife Cori, “As a mom of a Jr. Dragster racer, I am so happy to see IHRA including the younger kids into their established programs. IHRA has developed an opportunity that young racers won’t find anywhere else. It gives me chills thinking about rewarding the youngest racers for their hard work with a life changing experience like racing at the IHRA World Finals.”
If there is ever a time to sign up to race for points in the Brandt’s Heating Cooling and Electrical Jr. Dragster class at Bunker Hill Dragstrip, it is definitely in the upcoming season. Racers licensed at other sanctioning bodies can easily apply for a cross over license with IHRA. The Bunker Hill Dragstrip staff will also be available to assist new racers in obtaining a license. The Summit Super Series points race schedule for Bunker Hill Dragstrip will be released in the near future.
