A Letter of Thanks From the McMillen Family
In a world full of uncertainty, there really is so much to be thankful for. It’s been two and a half years since we took the reins of Bunker Hill Dragstrip over from Mark Cregier. We would like to thank him for the opportunity to buy the historic facility. We would not be composing this letter of thanks to all of you today if it weren’t for Mark, so thank you Mark.
Sponsorship is essential to our business, and we have been extremely fortunate to have a lot of companies who believe in us and our racers. From those who choose to spend their advertising dollars on a sign at the track, to those who have sponsored our classes, lanes, races, tower, winner’s circle, and more, you are important to us. We know there are so many places you can go to advertise and the fact that you choose Bunker Hill Dragstrip means the world to us. Thank you very much for being a part of our track.
While working at a dragstrip may seem like an “easy” job, it is far from easy. Imagine working every weekend the entire summer. The days are long, and the sun is hot. There is not one position that we can do without. It takes the entire team of staff members to keep the program running efficiently. The track staff’s dedication is something we do not take for granted. Thank you to the staff for showing up and giving it your all week in and week out. Thank you for choosing to spend your spring, summer and fall with us. We definitely couldn’t do this without you and we appreciate you so much.
There would be no race track without racers. First we would like to thank our points racers. When we purchased the track in 2022, the majority of the schedule was points races. For several seasons, points racers were basically the only reason the gates at Bunker Hill Dragstrip opened. While we have added other events into the schedule and reduced the number of points races that the track once had, we will never forget that prior to our ownership, our points racers kept this track in business and continue to keep our business going. We will always appreciate those who join us for points. Thank you for understanding that owning a track and running a points program was new to us, and for appreciating the fact that we are doing everything we can to make our points program one that everyone wants to be a part of. Please know we will always have your best interest in mind.
Because we have added other events to the schedule, we have had several racers join us for the first time in a long time, and in some cases, for the first time ever. Our growth is dependent on new racers coming to the track. Thank you to the racers who have given Bunker Hill Dragstrip a chance under our ownership. Thank you to those racers who had a great time and told their friends. We hope to see you back in 2025. And… for those who haven’t been to the track since we purchased it, but plan to attend in 2025. Thank you in advance. We look forward to meeting you all.
Lastly we would like to thank every single person that has jumped in to help when they saw that we needed it. Whether it is to help us put on a race, help with concessions, winner’s circle pictures, raising money for team finals, building a new entry building, picking up trash around the facility, fixing things that we didn’t realize needed fixed, and the list goes on. We are humbled by the number of people who have stepped up to help us over the last 2 and a half years, and from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
Our hope is that every one of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy time with your family, friends, and loved ones. We look forward to the future of Bunker Hill Dragstrip and thank everyone for supporting us on this journey.
